BetaStudy is a global online learning and certification-preparation platform operated and owned by SPLEXX INNOVATION DYNAMICS LTD, a company registered in Nigeria ("BetaStudy", "we", "us", or "our").
Our privacy framework is primarily based on the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 ("NDPA") and applicable Nigerian data-protection requirements. Because BetaStudy is a global service, additional privacy and data-protection laws may apply depending on your location. Where such laws apply, we respect all mandatory rights and obligations.

2. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal data collected or processed when you:
- Visit www.betastudy.app;
- Create or use a BetaStudy account;
- Sign in using email/password, Google or LinkedIn;
- Use learning, exam, certification & gamification features;
- Subscribe to a paid plan;
- Submit study notes, questions, reviews, ratings, images or files;
- Participate in study activities, XP systems, leaderboards or competitions;
- Communicate with BetaStudy;
- Receive our emails or in-app notifications; or
- Otherwise interact with the Service.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account and profile information
When you create an account, we may collect your full name, email address, password, profile picture, date of birth or age, country/location, certification interests, and optional profile details. Passwords are securely hashed and are never stored in plain text.
3.2 Social login information
If you register or authenticate via Google or LinkedIn, we receive information made available by the provider (such as name, email address, profile picture), subject to your settings and their privacy policies.
3.3 Learning and performance information
We collect practice answers, examination results, scores, study progress, certification progress, study history, learning activity, XP, streaks, badges, leaderboard activity, study plans, and recommendations to deliver and optimize your learning experience.
3.4 User-submitted content
Study notes, questions, reviews, ratings, profile information, images, and files voluntarily uploaded to the platform.
3.5 & 3.6 Technical, usage and location information
IP address, browser type and version, pages/features accessed, timestamps, error and diagnostic telemetry, and approximate location derived from IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
3.7 Payment and subscription information
Payments are securely processed by Stripe. BetaStudy does not store complete credit/debit card numbers. We retain payment status, subscription plan, transaction references, billing metadata, subscription dates, and refund history.
3.8 Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and telemetry tools including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity.
Essential cookies are used to provide and secure the Service. Non-essential analytics and advertising cookies are deployed in compliance with applicable consent requirements, which you may manage or withdraw at any time.
4. How We Use Personal Data
We process personal data for legitimate purposes including:
- Creating and administering accounts;
- Authenticating users;
- Providing BetaStudy's learning & exam services;
- Tracking study progress & predicting readiness;
- Generating personalised study plans and recommendations;
- Providing scores, explanations, and learning insights;
- Administering subscriptions, payments & refunds;
- Providing customer support;
- Communicating with users & service notifications;
- Sending marketing communications where legally permitted;
- Preventing fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- Maintaining, diagnosing, and securing infrastructure;
- Improving BetaStudy & developing new features;
- Complying with statutory and legal obligations.
5. Lawful Bases for Processing (NDPA & Global Standards)
1. Contract
Necessary to perform our contract with you: account creation, authentication, subscription billing, learning functionality, and user support.
2. Legal Obligation
Necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, financial reporting, and consumer-protection requirements.
3. Legitimate Interests
Platform security, fraud prevention, technical improvements, algorithm optimization, product development, and defense of legal claims.
4. Consent
Marketing communications, non-essential cookies, analytics, and advertising telemetry. Consent may be freely withdrawn at any time.
6–7. BetaStudy's AI Model & Anonymised Data Policy
BetaStudy uses its own AI model to deliver recommendations, explanations, study plans, scores, learning insights, and personalised study pacing.
No Automated Legal Decisions:
BetaStudy's AI does not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about users. It functions strictly as an educational tutor.
AI Model Improvement Safeguard:
BetaStudy may use user-submitted content to train or improve its AI models only after that content has been genuinely anonymised or aggregated so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual.
8–9. Marketing & In-App Notifications
We may send promotional updates, certification announcements, discounts, and study tips to registered users where legally permitted. You can opt out or unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or by emailing hello@betastudy.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent BetaStudy from sending essential transactional communications (security alerts, password resets, payment invoices, and legal notices).
10–11. Third-Party Service Providers & DPAs
We disclose personal data only where necessary to operate BetaStudy or comply with law. We maintain formal Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with all primary subprocessors:
12–13. International Transfers & Enterprise Accounts
Because BetaStudy is a global service utilizing international cloud infrastructure, personal data may be transferred and processed outside Nigeria and your country of residence. Where transfers occur, we implement appropriate contractual safeguards, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and adequacy mechanisms required by the NDPA and international data-protection regulations.
For organisational customers, organisation administrators cannot access individual user learning data or individual exam scores unless the user has consented or applicable law permits such access.
14–15. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We apply strict storage limitation principles. We retain identifiable information only while your account remains active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer necessary.

16–18. Data Security, Account Security & Breach Response
We maintain technical and organisational measures including access controls, encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), multi-factor authentication, session monitoring, rate limiting, and account lockout protections.
Data Breach Notification Policy:
In the event of a personal data breach, BetaStudy will execute containment, investigation, and remediation measures. Where required, we will notify affected individuals and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or relevant supervisory authority without undue delay within statutory timeframes.
19–20. Your Statutory Data Protection Rights & Complaints
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable international privacy frameworks, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure: Request permanent deletion of your account and personal data (see Account Deletion).
- Right to Restriction: Limit the processing of your data.
- Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
- Right to Data Portability: Obtain a portable electronic copy of your data.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time.

21–25. Age Requirements & Sensitive Data Protection
Users Aged 16–17: BetaStudy permits users aged 16 and above (subject to specific certification provider age rules) with additional privacy safeguards. The platform is not intended for children below 16.
Sensitive Data: BetaStudy does not intentionally request or collect sensitive personal data (health records, religious beliefs, political views, biometrics, sexual orientation, criminal records, or national ID numbers). Users must not upload sensitive personal information.
